Visit the extensive tobacco plantations of Viñales Valley and towns oozing colonial charm such as Trinidad and Cienfuegos, before plunging into the world of the Mayans. The Chichén Itzá and Tulum ruins are sure to offer an impressive insight into the high culture of the Mayan tribes. In between all the sightseeing there will also be some time to simply relax on the idyllic beaches in the surrounding area.
Highlights of Total Caribbean
The Viñales Valley is a true highlight of this combined tour. Wander through the fields with their fertile soil, ideal for growing the legendary Cuban tobacco used by cigar brands such as Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta and Montecristo. The valley stands against a unique and impressive backdrop dotted with the imposing karst rock formations known as “mogotes”. Another popular attraction with the tourists is the “Cueva del Indio” cave which can be explored on foot, before taking a boat on the mystical underground river that has eroded the landscape over the years. You will pass impressive stalactites and bats before indulging in a fresh glass of sugar cane juice when you reach the other side. The Viñales Valley truly is one of the most beautiful landscapes that Cuba has to offer, and no tour would be complete without a visit.
The Ruins of Chichén Itzá
Another favourite on the Total Caribbean Tour is the former temple city of Chichén Itzá, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site since 1988 and one of the most famous attractions on the Yucatán peninsula. It is estimated that this former city of approximately 1km in diameter must have played an important national role between the 8th and 11th century, and various ceramics found there suggest that the ruins date back around two thousand years. The stepped pyramid of “El Castillo” is impossible to miss among the many architectural structures and styles. Seize the opportunity to explore these Mayan ruins: book our Total Caribbean Tour now.
The grand finale of our Total Caribbean tour is unmissable – get ready to relax and contemplate your time spent in the Caribbean under the radiant sun, surrounded by palm trees on the fine idyllic sand of Tulum beach. The crystal turquoise blue sea beckons all swimmers and snorkelers. Sunbathers and swimmers need only look up in wonder at the famous Mayan ruins and be persuaded to investigate further. What makes these ruins so special is that they are the only major Mayan site in Mexico to be located so uniquely, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea below. During your stay you can round off your days with an authentic cocktail in one of the many small bars, or star gaze from your beach hut on your very own hammock. With our Total Caribbean Tour you are sure to grasp the Caribbean aura and go home with long-lasting memories of Tulum beach.
